PREPRESS PRODUCTION ARTIST
This is for a Fast paced in house prepress department for Commercial printer in South Kansas City. Experience with Both MAC OS9 & 10 as well as PC production is required. Understanding of both Traditional and Digital prepress workflows a plus. The ideal candidate must be able to work within a fast paced deadline driven environment where accuracy is critical!
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Be able to work in a fast paced environment to meet tight deadlines.
2. Have above average understanding of Macintosh OS9 & 10, Adobe, Micromedia, Microsoft, and Quark software.
3. Be able to accurately perform self checks after work is performed and proof work from others.
4. Have a desire to keep up-to-date with latest software advances.
5. Have a basic understanding of how a printing press works and its terminology.
6. Be able to Pre-flight / trouble shoot all incoming Digital files.
7. Experience with color management and large format printing is a plus.
8. Work closely with co-workers, supervisor, sales and CSR’s to assure all processes are covered through pre-press.
9. Be able to communicate directly with the customer if necessary.
10. Be able to perform basic scanning procedures (advanced skills a plus).
11. Must be familiar with basic prepress networking and file structures.
Special Skills:
This position requires a minimum of 3 years Mac experience with Quark, Adobe, Micromedia, and Microsoft software. Trapping experience is a must. Familiarity with AGFA Apogee is a plus. This position requires a broad knowledge base in sheet fed printing, for both single & multiple colors and, a familiarity with digital large format output. Large format laminating and finishing and/or PC or unix experience are strong pluses. Occasional overtime may be required.
Physical Demands:
Must be able to work at a computer terminal for at least 3 continuos hours at a time and lift a minimum of 20 pounds.
